ThyssenKrupp Steel and Stainless USA to create 2,700 jobs in Alabama

ThyssenKrupp is committed to building a $3.7 billion world class, state-of-the-art steel and stainless steel processing facility located in northern Mobile and southern Washington counties in southwest Alabama. The facility will be a cooperative effort between two ThyssenKrupp segments - Steel and Stainless. When fully operational, the facility will employ 2,700 workers and have an estimated annual capacity of 5.1 million metric tons of end product. The plant is expected to begin operations by 2010. Initially planned as a $2.9 billion investment, ThyssenKrupp recently announced that it now expects to invest $3.7 billion in this facility.

ThyssenKrupp Steel and Stainless USA, LLC will recruit and hire locally to fill jobs created at the new Alabama facility. AIDT will establish a formal procedure to fill future employment opportunities for production/maintenance team jobs. Opportunities will be posted on this website as well as publicized through local news media. When the AIDT pre-employment training application process begins, AIDT will publicize information throughout the region. Plant operations are expected to begin in 2010.

ThyssenKrupp has begun its search for the initial staff to build and manage the facility and has several professional openings.
