The Mission of AIDT is to provide quality workforce development for Alabama's new and existing businesses, and to expand the opportunities of its citizens through the jobs these businesses create.

 

AIDT, an institute of the State's Department of Postsecondary Education, encourages economic development through job-specific training. Training services are offered in many areas, and are free of charge to new and expanding businesses throughout the State.

Skills@Work

AIDT's new Skills@Work program is for those who need help with workplace fundamentals: application and interview skills, diversity, team skills, communication, using computers and email. Skills@Work is an evening program available at no cost for job seekers ranging from high school age through adult.

ThyssenKrupp to create 2,700 jobs

AIDT welcomes ThyssenKrupp Steel and Stainless USA, LLC, to its new home in northern Mobile and southern Washington counties in southwest Alabama. ThyssenKrupp Steel and Stainless USA will create 2,700 jobs when the new steel facility begins operation in 2010. More information is here.

New Maritime Welding and Shipfitting Training

Job seekers interested in careers with Mobile’s growing maritime industry can get qualifications and skills they need through the Maritime Welding Training program available at no cost. AIDT now offers Interview T.I.P.S. (Training to Improve Presentation Skills) to prepare job seekers to submit correct applications, demonstrate confidence, improve communication skills with mock interviews and proper interview follow-up.
