Two decades of excellence. Countless success stories. For 20 consecutive years, AIDT has maintained the gold standard in workforce training, proving that innovation, quality, and commitment are at the heart of everything we do.
AIDT, Alabama’s workforce training agency under the Department of Commerce, is proud to announce its 20th consecutive unconditional ISO 9001 certification—a milestone that underscores our dedication to continuous improvement and world-class service.
AIDT is the only state agency in Alabama with ISO certification and one of the few around the country. Certification confirms meeting and exceeding international ISO standards that are the foundation for development of quality systems that enables process improvement and boosts effectiveness and efficiency of the system.
Since 2005, AIDT has made remarkable strides:
-
The economic impact has surged from $3.3 million in 2007/2008 to $9.9 billion in 2023/2024, reflecting an exponential growth in workforce development value.
-
Average hourly wages for those trained have increased from $28.74 to $37.91, underscoring the higher-value skills imparted through our programs.
-
The number of individuals trained annually has grown from 13,900 in 2005/2006 to 20,900 today, while total individuals trained have surpassed 1 million, with 1,049,133 people trained to date—up from 324,698 in 2005.
-
The number of companies we’ve partnered with has more than doubled, from 2,559 in 2005 to 5,518 today.
These achievements are a direct result of AIDT’s ongoing commitment to process improvement, ensuring that our programs not only meet but exceed industry demands and continuously evolve with workforce trends.
“Achieving this certification for 20 consecutive years is a true reflection of the dedication and hard work of the AIDT team,” said Ed Castile, Executive Director and Deputy Secretary of Commerce “Our staff’s commitment to quality and excellence is at the heart of everything we do. Whether we are launching new training programs, developing industry partnerships, or helping individuals enhance their skills, we are driven by the desire to make a meaningful impact on the lives of the people we serve.”
AIDT made history in 2005 as the first state workforce training organization in the world to achieve ISO 9001 certification. Since then, this designation has served as a foundation for process improvement, ensuring that our training programs remain cutting-edge and responsive to the evolving needs of Alabama’s industries.
The ISO 9001 certification isn’t just a badge—it’s a promise. AIDT is continuously refining its programs, resources, and systems to provide top-tier training, industry partnerships, and workforce solutions that empower both job seekers and employers.
